Travelers' Tales

Shared memories is created especially for the ordinary traveler who has had the experience of visiting places anywhere in Malaysia. It is a corner where memories and experiences are shared, tips and advice offered to help fellow travelers make the most of their holidays. Shared memories is opened to young and old, Malaysians and non-Malaysians who have a story to tell, pictures to share, tips to be given.

Please write to the webmaster and we would be glad to publish your letters. We welcome candid pictures of yourselves, scenic shots etc. that you may have collected while traveling through the country.

Malaysia has definitely been a wonderful place to visit and explore. It is very nice to see that even though Malaysia has been through a recession, a lot of time and effort has been put in to maintain the system. For this, one cannot but appreciate Malaysia.

The Malaysian people were always polite, helpful and kind.Malaysia has been a memorable experience. If there is one destination in Asia I would visit, it's Malaysia. Keep it up Malaysia!

We departed on 30/7/99 and stay one night at Muar - Pelangi Hotel ($80/night). The next morning (31/7/99) we drop at Gunung Ledang We should stay at Ledang Resort if I know earlier. It's quite a nice place. We missed the "Tun Razak Highway" as mentioned by you, as ther is no signboard indicated " Tun Razak Highway".

We reached Kuala Terengganu at 5.30pm and stay at Kuala Terengganu one night. We took the 3 days & 2 night package tour to Redang Island and 1 night stay in Lake Kenyir. Redang Island is a nice place, good for snorkeling, if you have not been there before, please ...MUST GO !! (airnya jernih seperti "cystal", beribu-ribu ekor ikan yang berwarna-warni ..cantik sekali !) I like the scenery of Lake Kenyir, It's amazing...very beautiful and quiet.

After Lake Kenyir, we went to GOLOK- Thailand.... nothing there except do some shopping and makan. We stay at Marina Hotel (R$60/night). After Golok, we went to Kota Bahru - Tumpat. We visited the "Ship Temple"and "Reclining Buddha" and stay at "Puteri Diamond" ( $150/night). The next day we went to central market as highlighted by you, we do some shopping over there, it's beautiful when I look down from 4th floor to the central of market ! After Kota Bahru, we went to Taman Negara.

We went to Gua Telinga, rubber tubing (It's fun !) and night Safari for the first day and the next day we went to Bukit Terisek and Canopy walk. I forgot to bring my camera as I left it in side our car at Bandar Jerantut. After Taman Negara, we went to Kuantan and stay at Hyatt Hotel.. mahal..cost me $230/night !! but the beach is nice, we do some shopping at the town area.....there is one shop selling the Udang Kering, Ikan Bilis etc, the name is "Sin Kee" very cheap, this shop is near the main road to Kuantan. please recommend to other people. It's very lucky on the last day that is 10/8/99, we decided to go to Tasik Chini, this Tasik is different from Tasik Kenyir. A lot of lotus is flowering now, according to the people there the best season to visit Tasik Chini is on September as more lotus will flowering at that time.

After Tasik Chini, we going back by taking to route through' Segamat and taking the expressway from Yong Peng . Overall, we are really enjoyed the trip, but still found that 10 d ays is not really enough; preferable will be 14 days. I will invite my other friends to visit east coast Malaysia in coming future. and thanks again for your help. P/s: If you know any other place which I shouldn't miss, please let mw know. Terima Kasih.
